My 5 month old puppy isn’t getting potty training…?

I keep her in a pen (the large playpen type) and she won’t pee in there, but as soon as I let her out of the pen, she goes directly to one of my oriental carpets and pees. It’s driving me crazy. Any thing I can do??? She goes outside just fine when I take her out so I really don’t know what the issue is. Thanks!
Even if I have just taken her outside to pee (and she does go) as soon as she comes in it’s right to one of my carpets to pee. She isn’t in the pen all day long, we spend lots of time with her, take her on walks and just snuggling. She’s a schnoodle, so she’s still pretty small. THX!

First things, she won’t pee in the pen that you keep her in, because that is where she sleeps. So to her outside of that pen it is ok to go to the bathroom. I would suggest that every time you take her out of the pen you take her straight outside. That way she gets the hang of…hey I have to go straight to the door when I get out of my pen and then go to the bathroom once I get outside.
